The active Chapter appreciates the ongoing support of Beta Mu alumni in maintaining a strong Beta Mu Chapter. The time, treasure and talent that our loyal alums are providing is invaluable to continuing PIKE as a respected and popular fraternity in Austin. The alumni leadership includes Alumni Chairman Doug Phelan '65 (dphelan@ims-securities.com, 512-217-1842) and Amb. Stan McLelland '68 (lonestartexas@austin.rr.com), who serves as Chapter Adviser.


The Chapter looks forward to a fun and memorable Fall 2009 Alumni Weekend. The weekend will take place Oct 9 and 10. On Friday night the Chapter will host a gathering at Scholz’s Garten and on Saturday a pre-Colorado football game tailgate. Please join us. The pledge classes of 1979 and 1989 are planning special 30 and 20 year, respectively, celebrations as well. Austin. Additionally, we have our annual parents’ weekend September 26th. Alums are welcome at the house anytime in Austin!

SUMMER 2009 ALUMNI RECEPTIONS

In the first of several summer 2009 alumni receptions around the state, Dallas and Fort Worth area Beta Mu alumni gathered at Dallas Country Club on May 19. Hosting the cocktail reception were Steve Ray ’69; Chris Jones ’70; Cass Robinson ’76; Russ Keene ’80; Ryan Thompson ’97; and Brad Harris ’02. Thirty alums were joined by six actives from the Dallas area who had just completed their Spring semester finals and were arriving home for the summer. Chapter President Wade Locklear ’06, from Plano, thanked the alums for the generous $5,000 raised during the evening for the active’s rush budget and for the renewed sense of alumni involvement and commitment in Dallas. Locklear noted that almost one-half of the active chapter members are from North Texas, and the alums were encouraged to help with rushee referrals and support of DFW area rush.
