Rush Information
Thanks for considering being a part of the UT fraternity system and for allowing us to
introduce Pi Kappa Alpha (known as PIKE).
Our summer activities include rush events at each orientation, major “state rush” parties in Dallas,
Houston and Austin over the course of the summer and Formal Rush takes place the first two
weeks of school. Please check our Web site for calendar updates.
Pike has been on the UT campus since 1920 and we have initiated 2,200 men in our Chapter. Our 2008 Fall
pledge class included 24 young men from many parts of Texas as well as several other states. Five of these young men earned perfect 4.0s during their pledge semester. Our Spring 2009 pledge
class, traditionally much smaller than the Fall, had six men.
You (and your families) should know we are completely committed to our incoming members by promoting four
main characteristics: scholarship, leadership, being a gentlemen, and athletics. Pike offers an environment
where one cannot only excel academically, but also make lifetime friends in a social setting. We take
scholarship seriously. Our GPA ranks in the top third of the all UT fraternity average.
Pike held a number of great social events this past year including our annual SWAMP party which was one of
the most notable fraternity parties on campus the entire year, many mixers with sororities and of course
functions like Friday burgers and basketball, and football tailgates and formals.
Being the second largest Fraternity in the nation, Pi Kappa Alpha provides a platform for future endeavors
after your undergraduate years in the worlds of business, arts and sports. Our active alumni network involves
men who are leaders in their fields ranging from the energy world to real estate development to private
equity and investment managers to advertising to teaching and coaching to medicine to engineering.
